Wrestling All-American earns spot on U.S. National Freestyle Team ÿ ÿÿÿÿ
While being a collegiate All-American may be good enough for some athletes, it's not for Penn wrestler Yoshi Nakamura.
Last weekend, Nakamura competed in the 2001 U.S. World Team Trials at Xavier University's Cintas Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Nakamura, who is a native of Ohio, posted a 3-1 record in the tournament en route to taking third place and earning a spot on the U.S. National Freestyle Team at 152 pounds.
He is the first Penn undergraduate to make the cut at this open, Olympic-level competition.
Nakamura's teammate, All-American Rick Springman, also competed last weekend, finishing fifth in the 167.5-pound weight class.
