Campus Crime Report

Robbery € September 2 -- A female University student reported that two men grabbed her purse and dragged her for a few feet while she and a witness were walking south on 41st Street. After the student let go of the purse, the two men fled north on 41st street. Police arrested a 15-year-old boy in connection with the crime.

€ September 2 -- A Penn alumna reported that her purse was stolen on the 3900 block of Pine Street at 4:54 a.m. A heavyset black female in her late 20s or early 30s with a short black ponytail, blue jeans and a blue shirt approached the woman from the rear, grabbed the purse and climbed into a dark gray sedan. The car headed east on Pine Street.

Burglary € September 3 -- A male University employee reported that several items were stolen from his secured office in Steinberg-Dietrich Hall, located at 3620 Locust Walk, between 5 p.m. on September 1 and 8 a.m. on September 3. The items taken were seven T-shirts, a Sony radio, a 12-pack of Mountain Dew and a six-pack of Gatorade. Police determined that the windows of the office had been forced open.

€ September 3 -- Police arrested 40-year-old Bernard Johnson at 12:36 a.m. after they saw him carrying a Panasonic fax machine, a Mellon Bank checkbook, clothing, wicker furniture and light bulbs. Police allege that the items were taken from residences on the 4000 block and 3900 block of Spruce Street.

Theft € September 5 -- A female University student reported that her purse was stolen from the back of her chair at the La Terrasse restaurant, located at 3400 Sansom Street. The bag contained $300 in cash, two Citibank Visa cards, a driver's license, a cellular phone and her house keys.

€ September 4 -- A woman unaffiliated with the University reported that a Sony Walkman, valued at $150, was stolen from her 1995 Toyota Tercel between 1 a.m. on September 3 and 8 a.m. the next day. One of the windows of the car, which was parked on the 3600 block of Ludlow Street, was smashed.
