Campus Crime Report: Thursday, June 1, 2000

Auto Theft

* May 30 -- A female employee of the University reported that her 1996 Honda Accord was stolen from a parking lot at 3200 Walnut Street sometime between 8:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Her cell phone and CD player were in the car.

Robbery

* May 29 -- The store managers of the Wawa convenience store at 3744 Spruce Street reported that a male entered the store, displayed a black handgun and demanded and stole $350 in currency from the register at 2 a.m. The suspect fled and no arrests have been made.

Burglary

* May 29 -- An employee of the University reported that he heard an alarm go off in the Law School's Silverman Hall and saw a black male in a grey, hooded sweatshirt run out of the building at 8:45 a.m. Police believed he was able to enter due to construction on the building. Several offices were forced open and computer equipment of an unknown value was missing. A laser printer, identified to be from the Law School, was later recovered when police from Southwest Philadelphia pursued and stopped a van in an unrelated incident. The suspect fled the scene.

* May 22 -- Employees of a construction company working on the Phi Gamma Delta house at 3619 Locust Walk reported that construction equipment valued at $350 was stolen from a locked room in the basement sometime between May 19 and May 22.

* May 21 -- Police arrested Eric Jones, unaffiliated with the University, after he took a bicycle and camera from a female student's house at 3926 Spruce Street at 10 p.m. Both articles, of unknown value, were recovered and returned to the student.

Indecent Assault

* May 28 -- A female University student reported that one of a group of approximately ten juveniles indecently touched her on the 3600 block of Locust Walk at 11 p.m. Police stopped a group of eight boys along Locust Walk, all of approximately 14-16 years of age, but the complainant could not identify which boy assaulted her and the group was warned and released.

Theft from Auto

* May 28 -- A male unaffiliated with the University reported that a Sony CD Player valued at $90 and gym clothing were taken from his Chevy Camero, parked in the 300 block of S. 43rd Street, around 2 a.m. The passenger side window of the car was smashed.

* May 26 -- A male unaffiliated with the University reported that a silver Kenwood amplifier valued at $450 was taken from his red Honda parked on the 400 block of Sansom Street between 9 a.m on May 24 and 10:30 on May 26.
