Embracing diversityThe following letter from President Rodin and Provost Barchi was read at the B-GLAD rally Wednesday.To the Editor: What makes this diversity truly special is the spark and spirit it brings to campus. At no place but an institution like this can one find such a singular place to call home, grow in one's understanding of others and challenge one's beliefs in order to learn from the experience in a positive, potentially powerful way. However, as a recent reprehensible e-mail here on campus reminds us, there is still much work to be done before we all meet each other with a spirit of openness and understanding -- even at Penn. We are resolute in our commitment to disspelling ignorance through constructive dialogue and education. That commitment never can change and never will change. To all members of Penn's community celebrating B-GLAD: Thank you for bringing so much to our campus and best wishes during these wonderful days. Do know that all are welcome here and always will be.
