Grad student, 29, dies of cancer Huang, known to many as "Frank," suffered from leukemia for more than a year, during which time he underwent a successful bone marrow transplant, according to Chemistry Department Vice Chairman George Palladino. Huang came to the University in 1994 after teaching and earning his master's degree in Chemistry at Kansas State University. He obtained his bachelor's degree in 1991 from Nanjing University in China. Huang served as a graduate instructor and research fellow at Penn. His work earned him several awards, including the Maro Publication's Future Technology Award in 1998. He is survived by his wife, Xiaorong Wang, a graduate student in the Medical School. A service for the Penn community will be held today at 4 p.m. in Lynch Hall in the Chemistry Building. -- Jonathan Margulies
