To the Editor: Electronic privacy is no trivial matter. It is a complicated issue with legal and ethical implications. It should be noted that under the proposed policy, your e-mail could be read by a number of administrative officials on campus, but they would be under no obligation to inform you. To learn about this and other features of the proposed policy, please access the draft proposal at http://www.upenn.edu/almanac/v46/n16/e-privacy.html. We encourage you to attend this forum to voice your opinions. Those on University Council who will vote on the final policy need to get maximum possible input from the student body. As your elected representatives, we need your help to ensure that a privacy policy is fair and equitable to students and does not infringe upon your civil rights. Please attend the University Council meeting today from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. in McClelland Hall in the Quad and let your voice be heard!
