Ortman again wins CSFL MVP honors "I'm very pleased that I got to win it two years in a row," Ortman said. "It's a good feeling and a nice thing to close out my career with." Against Navy, Ortman ran for a league record 363 yards. He leaves the league as one of the best players in its history, but that doesn't take the sting out of losing this year's championship to Army. The Cadets defeated the Quakers 17-9 on October 22 in what amounted to the league's championship game. "This year, my only goal was to go 6-0," Ortman said. "We definitely had the best offense this school has ever seen, but we were so close to Army, and to know we were that close kind of hurts even more." -- Jesse Spector Field Hockey's Bills garners high honors Even though the season has been over for a couple of weeks, the honors continue to roll in for graduating Penn field hockey star Leah Bills. Bills was named as a Regional All-American yesterday. She was named second-team All-Ivy last week. Bills' season ended prematurely. After scoring her first career hat trick against Yale to increase her team-leading totals to nine goals and 19 points, she tore her Achilles' tendon, ending her Penn career. Bills more than doubled her '98 scoring totals his year. As a junior, she finished fourth on the team with seven points. "It's great," Bills said. "I ended my season on kind of a weird note and it's happy and sad for me. Everyone wants to finish on a high note and it's been a tough season. Penn hockey has always been a great tradition and I wish that I could be a part of it in the years to come." -- J.S.
