Wharton wins honors for environment prog. The prestigious business school was recently recognized for its top-ranked Environmental Management Program in an annual survey sponsored by the World Resources Institute and the Aspen Institute's Initiative for Social Innovation. Wharton was just one of two business schools surveyed to rank in the study's top-tier for its study of both the environmental and societal issues facing business. The University of Michigan Business School also received similar distinctions. "Leading corporations have been focusing with increasing intensity on measures of environmental and ethical, as well as financial concern," Wharton Environmental Management Program Director Eric Orts said in a statement. "We hope our programs will serve to sensitize students to these concerns and provide them with some of the tools they will need to manage in the future." The Environmental Management Program is interdisciplinary, incorporating courses in management, marketing, public policy, insurance and law. It focuses on designing and implementing effective strategies to address environmental problems that arise in the world of business. Wharton also offers an undergraduate concentration in Environmental Policy and Management. Only a handful of business schools nationwide offer a program in the field. -- Eric Dash
