CAMPUS BRIEFS: Tuesday, December 15, 1998

New RAB chairperson wants 'voice' to be heard Jong, who served as vice chairperson this year, said she plans to lead the organization in continuing "to evolve with the college house system." One of the main functions of RAB over the next year, and likely for years to come, will be to advise the University on student needs with regard to the upcoming 10-year, $300 million dormitory and dining renovation and construction plan. "I want to serve as the voice of the students in the new construction plan," Jong said. She added that some of her other main goals include playing an increased role in programming for the college houses and continuing to work with other student groups on campus "to make sure everyone's voice is heard." Jong takes over for College junior Emily Pollack, who chaired the 1998 board. Jong said she wants to continue Pollack's initiative of accepting members mainly via appointments by college house councils. The board now has representatives from all 12 college houses. --Jeremy Reiss
