Unity Week organizers cancel keynote address Berry, an adjunct professor at several colleges in Chicago and a professional speaker, was supposed to arrive at 3:30 p.m. yesterday and speak at 7:30 p.m., but her flight did not leave Houston until 6:30 p.m. -- making it impossible for her to give her speech. The talk, entitled "Race and Ethnic Relations," was scheduled to kick off Unity Week, which is organized annually by the United Minorities Council to increase awareness of campus minority issues and UMC goals. When Berry hadn't arrived by 8 p.m., the 15 students who had gathered to hear her talk began to leave slowly. At 9 p.m., event organizers officially cancelled the address. Other upcoming Unity Week events include a career panel tomorrow and a play about multiculturalism Thursday. -- Myrtland Roberts
