Bayer, a 1996 Olympian, will be one of six Olympians competing for the U.S. in the World Championships being held in Chaux de Fonds, Switzerland, October 5-11. It had long been assumed that Bayer, a three time winner of the U.S. Division I Senior National Fencing title in the foil, would be a member of this team. Bayer was also the bronze medalist in the foil at the 1998 NCAA Championships. The other three foils joining Bayer at the World Championships are 1996 Olympian Zaddick Logenbach, Columbia graduate Dan Kellner and David Lidlow. Bayer, Logenbach and Kellner were also members of the 1997 World Championship team. -- Josh Callahan
