To the Editor: Through the cooperative efforts of the central administration, the college houses, the School of Arts and Sciences, the Engineering School and the libraries, the University has made a considerable investment over the summer to upgrade a number of the existing computing facilities for students and to create three brand new ones. The new ones, open now in Harnwell and Hamilton houses and nearing completion in Goldberg House, feature 35 new Pentiums and Power Macs. In addition to these new facilities, existing residential labs have been upgraded with a number of brand new machines, and the lab on the ground floor of Harrison House will be open 24 hours, seven days a week. In Van Pelt Library, the lab in Rosengarten has been upgraded, the Class of 1937 Lab, on the fifth floor, has been completely renovated with all new machines and more than 100 laptop jacks have been installed throughout the building. A directory of information about computing resources for students, with links to a list of public labs, their hours of operation and available hardware and software may be found at http://www.sas.upenn.edu/college/computing/.
