Better planning could have avoided the scheduling of a concert the night before the LSATs. For those of them who live in Superblock, nerves were the least of what played into their insomnia. In conjunction with the first home football game and the "No Place Like Penn" weekend, Superblock played host Friday night to the band Fathead, whose discordant riffs echoed off the dormitories until 11:30 p.m. -- a half hour past the scheduled time. We appreciate the efforts of the class boards, the Undergraduate Assembly and the other groups that contributed to the weekend's organization. But a little more thought could have gone into the planning before a concert was scheduled in a residential area on the night before an important exam several hundred upperclassmen took part in. When it comes to the planning of similar events in the future, the Office of Student Life and other involved groups should reevaluate the use of Superblock as a night concert venue and look into other viable alternatives such as College Green. If the argument is that such an event must take place in a highly populated, residential area in order to attract students, then maybe the event itself should be reconsidered.
