Aggravated assault trial postponed in FIJI case Owens, a 27-year-old Harvard University graduate, allegedly assaulted University Police officers after being cited for disorderly conduct Oct. 30, 1997, outside the Phi Gamma Delta house on Locust Walk. Owens was allegedly arguing loudly with his friend, U.S. Attorney Richard Sofield, 28, and Sofield's brother, then-College freshman Bill Sofield. Owens' attorney, Paul Hetznecker, was unavailable for comment. Philadelphia Assistant District Attorney Nigel Green said of the case: "We intend to prove that [Owens] assaulted members of the University of Pennsylvania Police who were in uniform at the time and executing their duties." Owens is charged with several counts of aggravated assault, simple assault and resisting arrest for the incident. -- Andrew Ribner
