The Daily Pennsylvanian The women's tennis team began its spring semester dual-match season with an easy win over Temple. The Quakers won the match 7-2, a very impressive effort after a three-month winter break. The Quakers were led by No.1 player Anastasia Pozdniakova, who won a thrilling match 4-6, 6-3, 7-5. What made the outcome even more remarkable was her comeback from being down 0-5 in the third set to win seven straight games and the match. The team was not surprised that the top of Temple's lineup provided stiff competition. "It went pretty much as expected," sophomore Elana Gold said. "We had some tough matches at the top. The match is a real confidence-booster for us." The Quakers are now looking ahead to next weekend's home matches against Rutgers and Penn State, teams which are expected to bring good matches. "We are expecting better competition next weekend," freshman Melissa Perold said. "We need to have good practices next week and stay optimistic." For now, the Quakers are simply content to have started the season with a win against Temple.
