To the Editor: What the University owes to federal agencies and what it owes to its students and staff are widely disparate things. I would suggest that the administration owes the students a comprehensive bi-monthly account of all crimes allegedly committed within the University Police patrol area -- Market Street to Baltimore Avenue and the Schuylkill River to 43rd Street. If the administration wishes to be pleased, let it be so for doing more than it has to. For once let it err on the side of being too involved or too zealous instead of merely fulfilling exogenous guidelines. As a recent alumni, I would like to remind the administration that while being quiet about abundant campus crime might have the effect of improving what U.S. News & World Report thinks of Penn, U.S. News does not open its checkbook and make alumni contributions. But I do, and I for one will not be opening my checkbook until I see meaningful action on behalf of the students in the form of a comprehensive newsletter and/or frequently updated Web site that offers students incredibly easy access to all crime reports, alleged and confirmed. Jon Miller College '97 Crossword correction To the Editor: Whomever is responsible for the daily crossword puzzle is a major screw-up. Throughout January there were several mistakes, and February 10 a puzzle was repeated, along with the wrong answers for the previous day. How can The Daily Pennsylvanian be considered a serious attempt at journalism when it can't even get the crossword right? I would appreciate it if you could correct this situation.
