Seniors to vote onSeniors to vote onHonor Awards Ballots will be available today through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in front of Steinberg-Dietrich Hall on Locust Walk. A faculty committee selected the 15 men and 15 women on the ballot from a pool of over 110 students. Assistant Director of Student Life Beth Hagovsky said the awards are one of the University's oldest traditions, dating back over 100 years. The awards -- consisting of the Spoon, Bowl, Cane and Spade for men, and the Hottel, Harnwell, Goddard and Brownlee for women -- will be presented at Ivy Day May 17. The class of 1998 will also run its Class Board election Tuesday and Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the Walk. Run-off voting will take place Thursday. "I just want to encourage both classes to get out there and vote," Hagovsky said. "It's up to them to decide who leads the class of '98 and what seniors they think most deserve the awards." -- Jaclyn LaPlaca Funerals underway for TWA crash victims Funeral directors in Montoursville have had to stagger the scheduling of services for the victims of the TWA Flight 800 explosion, because mourners in the close-knit town knew more than one victim and wanted to pay their respects to all of them. Eight funerals are scheduled for this weekend. -- Joe Reporter Teachers union and state near agreement Unionized teachers who work for state-owned schools have reached a tentative contract with the Commonwealth. The proposed deal would cover 110 teachers represented by the Pennsylvania State Education Association. As with other contracts reached recently with other state employee unions, the pact calls for an eight-percent pay increase over the next three years.
