The Daily Pennsylvanian, March 26, 1971 The Quakers made good use of their bats and brawn in their season opener yesterday afternoon with Rutgers-South Jersey, coming out on top with a 16-0 romp after the dust on the basepaths had settled. The Pioneers handed the game to the Quakers: committing four wild pitches, five bases on balls, five errors and allowing the home team an equal number of stolen bases. Starting pitcher Ken Kroell, and relievers Frank Koza and Jim Fuddy limited Rutgers to five hits, and completely controlled that aspect of play, which many have stated is Penn's glaring inadequacy. "They weren't a good team," admitted coach Bob Seddon after the farce. "But you could tell our team really wants to play. We were always conscious of eliminating our errors." The batgirls have been selected and will be ready to do their thing next week.
