Public Safety offers Public Safety offers vehicle registration Her Jeep Cherokee had Project SAVE -- Stolen Auto Verification Effort -- stickers in a window, indicating that the car was registered with the Philadelphia Police Department and that officers could -- for any reason -- stop the car between midnight and 6 a.m. Now the service is being offered in University City. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. tomorrow, residents of the Philadelphia Police Department's 18th District -- which encompasses University City and much of West Philadelphia -- may register their vehicles at the Division of Public Safety's Special Services facility at 40th and Walnut streets. She added that the perpetrator had unsuccessfully attempted to peel off the stickers before abandoning the vehicle, which was recovered within a few hours of being stolen. -- Scott Lanman Sophomore class gets funds for 'Blowout' The sophomore class received $3,000 from the Undergraduate Assembly on March 2 for the second annual Spring Blowout. The event -- scheduled for early April -- will feature a "battle of the bands" and a barbeque on Hill Field where sophomores can eat for free. The musical contest will feature both local groups and national bands. The class plans to earn the remainder of the event's estimated $12,500 cost through fundraisers. The UA contributed the additional $3,000 -- $1,500 from the sophomore class contingency fund and $1,500 from the junior and senior class funds. -- Stephanie Cooperman
