Lighting project begins This part of the multi-phased project involves replacing the "lollipop-type" lights in Hamilton Village between 38th and 40th streets and between Spruce and Walnut streets. The new "Levy Park" type fixtures -- similar to those on Locust Walk east of 38th Street -- will be two feet taller than the current ones. "We decided to redesign the whole lighting program," Gravina said. "We are committed to improving it." And Physical Plant Executive Director Jim Wargo explained that this phase of the project will "cast more light" on Locust Walk and Superblock. The second phase of the project involves examining all lighting between 33rd and 34th streets, in addition to initiatives to highlight the campus's major historic buildings. -- Tammy Reiss
