$8,000 of c lass rings stolen from Book Store University Police Detective John Peterson explained that the rings were taken from a secured case in The Book Store between 3 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. Thursday. Bill Petrick, The Book Store's assistant operations director, said there were no signs of forced entry to the case where the merchandise is kept. Petrick noted that Jostens manages the ring counter inside the store instead of The Book Store, adding that he was "sure" Jostens officials have been taking increased precautions since the incident. University Police Detective Jane Curry and the Philadelphia Police Department's Southwest Detectives Bureau are investigating the incident, Peterson said, adding that The Book Store has numerous security cameras that could have caught the perpetrator on videotape. -- Scott Lanman
