Bringing a grocery store chain to campus should be a priority for the administration. Administrators are finally looking seriously at finding a chain to build a grocery store here. Any store that opened here would be profitable simply because it would fill a niche on campus. Oftentimes, students want to cook dinner and are unable to find all of the ingredients they need. A store such as Fresh Fields/Whole Foods would provide different types of food that we can't get from a trip to Wawa. While there may not be a sizable piece of property on campus available for a large grocery store, there are some potential areas that could house a mid-size grocery store. One possible site is the parking lot on the corner of 40th and Walnut streets. It's a convenient location, close to dormitories and numerous off-campus apartments. Administrators have said they want to provide more retail options for students. Getting a grocery store, on or near campus, should be one of their highest priorities.
