Rader has also been tried as a punter (he kicked three punts this season) and is an adept linebacker, who was named to the All-State team in Pennsylvania as a linebacker at Pennsbury. This season, Rader completed almost 57 percent of his passes for five touchdowns and 905 yards to earn a 110.3 quarterback rating. Rader, however, was picked off six times in 1996 -- which was the first season he saw any game action. Running the ball, however, Rader did not fare so well. In his seven games, Rader scrambled 51 times for negative-six yards, but that is more indicative of a Duke team which went 0-11 on the season. At 6-foot-4, 225 pounds Rader also outsizes both MacLeod and Russell. Neither coach Al Bagnoli nor Rader could be reached for comment. -- Scott Miller
