To the Editor: I have been the Executive Chair of the University's Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemoration for the past two years, and those words describe the commitment shown by University President Judith Rodin, Provost Stanley Chodorow and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Planning Committee. Our celebration has grown in support from administration, students and staff, and we hope to include even more input and attendance from community members. It is inspiring to experience the combined efforts and the outcome of those efforts. Our program this year is designed to educate, inspire and build coalitions. A series of events have been created to recognize outstanding Penn and community members for their service, explore the significance of King's principles through a variety of scholarly entries and to highlight the diversity that is Penn. The offerings promote dialogue, explores civility and has as its goal involving our neighboring community in the excitement that happens here at Penn. In honor of Dr. Kong, I extend an invitation to Penn and the community to participate, reflect and become active in the straggle for equality because, "We Must Make A Difference." Bring a friend.
