Fans get first glimpse of M. Hoops squad

Brown and Romanczuk proved that they are on the road to recovery after taking warmups. The good news about Saturday's Red and Blue scrimmage was that the Quakers couldn't lose the game. The even better news was that the younger players showed they were as competitive as the rest of the squad. But perhaps the best news was that even though Frank Brown and Paul Romanczuk sat out the scrimmage, the duo looked fine during warm-ups -- which means they should be on schedule for recovery for the regular-season opener on December 3 against Townson State. In front of a respectable post-football game crowd, the Quakers men's hoops team gave the fans a first glimpse at the upcoming season in the annual Red vs. Blue scrimmage. And even though the teams donned blue and white, the showcase clearly outlined the role the frosh will play this season. Center Geoff Owens, at 6-foot-11, showed that he can play physically underneath, and he also drained a short jumper. Highly touted guard Michael Jordan proved that he has adapted to the unselfish style of Penn hoops, as he dished the ball to create better shots from everywhere on the court. One big surprise came from sophomore Jed Ryan who was simply on fire in the last ten minutes of the half, as he consistently nailed three-point shots.
