City will start collectingCity will start collectingmixed paper each week Starting this week, off-campus students can put mixed paper -- in addition to plastics, glass and newspapers -- out for curbside collection. -- Kara Blond Global Village kicks off fundraiser on the Walk Global Village, a group formed last year in hopes of uniting racial and ethnic groups, will hold a fundraising raffle on Locust Walk this week, offering students a chance to win a trip for two to Hawaii, Florida, Mexico or the Caribbean. Students can buy a $1 raffle ticket for the trip. Winners will be drawn at 3 p.m. Friday in the Castle. The second prize for the raffle is a lunch for two at Le Bec Fin. All proceeds will go toward the group's speakers, forums and workshops on race relations and cultural awareness issues. People who buy more than three tickets receive a free "squeesh ball." Global Village will also host its first speaker of the year, Swiss author and lecturer Hossain Danesh, at 4:30 p.m. Friday in the Houston Hall Bowl Room. Danesh will discuss the causes and dynamics of violence from psychological, political and spiritual perspectives. -- Jaclyn LaPlaca
