U. Police arrest man for Hutch assault University Police are investigating how the man, who is not affiliated with the University, gained entry to Hutch, Peterson said, adding that the suspect claimed attendants at the front door let him in without presenting a PennCard. Peterson and other officers chased the suspect on foot from Hutch Gym across Murphy Field before arresting him as he tried to run onto the Schuylkill Expressway. Police expect the man to be charged with simple assault and recklessly endangering another person. The suspect has no prior criminal record, Peterson said. In an unrelated incident, an armed gunman held up the 7-11 convenience store at 38th and Chestnut streets Thursday afternoon, marking the store's second stick-up in two days and sixth since June. The gunman, who showed a revolver to a store employee, robbed the store of an undetermined amount of money at 2:20 p.m. Police believe the same man robbed the store at gunpoint of $15 at 1:20 p.m. Wednesday, Peterson said. The robber fled the store northwest on 38th and Chestnut streets. – Ben Hammer Bail raised for two shooting suspects A bail commissioner raised the bails for shooting suspects Christopher Crawford and Albert Bandy to $500,000 on Friday, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer. Crawford and Bandy are charged with shooting College senior Patrick Leroy on September 25. They are also charged with several other armed robberies in the area around that time. The higher bail results from two charges added Friday. Each man would have to put up $50,000 and enough collateral to pay the rest of the bail to be released from jail. – Ben Hammer
