Heading off to Brown this weekend, the Quakers have recorded three wins and a tie in their last four games. Penn (4-5-1, 2-2 Ivy League) beat No. 18 Cornell last Friday, evening its Ivy League record. "Ever since we beat Cornell, it has been like we're another team," Penn forward Matt Huebner. "We're going into this game expecting to win." The upset of the Big Red was followed by a come-from-behind victory against Lafayette. "We're playing with a lot of confidence now," Penn midfielder/forward Gregg Kroll. "We're so young and it took a bit of time to come together. Plus, falling behind 1-0 and coming back, earlier in the season we couldn't have done that." Kroll, Huebner and forward Morgan Blackwell scored the three goals against Lafayette. Kroll and Huebner's goals were both their first of the season, doubling the number of Quakers to score to four. "We're going into the game thinking that we're going to beat them," Blackwell said. "Our offense is just getting better and better with each game. We have so many threats." The Quakers will need all the confidence they can muster against the Bears, who defeated Penn last year, 2-0, during a rainy game at Rhodes Field. "They are a good team, and its a big game, with us 2-2 in the Ivies," Penn coach George O'Neill. "We want to win this game." O'Neill has had to deal with many injuries over the season. The latest blow was a cut that Blackwell suffered against Lafayette about 20 minutes into the second half. At first, trainers thought the team's leading scorer might have fractured his leg. But it was found to be just a cut. "It will be sore for a couple of days," said O'Neill, who was said that Blackwell will play against Brown. Blackwell's is not the first or only injury Penn has had this season. Sophomore midfielder Austen Root's season may have been cut short by a stress fracture in his lower back. Freshman defenseman Thomas Ruth hasn't played a minute this season due to a back injury he sustained over the summer. And sophomore forward Steve Cohen tore ligaments in his ankle and will be sidelined for the remainder of the season.
