The Penn golf team finished its unprecedented fall season with its second outright tournament victory, a three-shot win at the rain-shortened Lehigh Invitational. Inclement weather forced the tournament directors to eliminate Saturday's play, so the Quakers first-day lead held up. Penn junior Adam Bradshaw finished third overall individually, just one stroke behind Invite champions Adam Argenbright and Peter Spicer, who both finished with 75s. "Conditions played a big part in the tournament, it was extremely windy and is a very difficult golf course," Bradshaw said. "That is why the scores were so high." In fact, 11 golfers couldn't even crack triple-digit scores. But Penn had no such difficulties, as all five Quakers placed in the top 21 in the 90-person field, which represented 18 schools. "It was the first time our team really showed its depth," Bradshaw said. "Everyone contributed". Penn freshman Rob Goldfaden tied for 10th with an 80, junior Shiv Puri tied for 15th (81) and sophomore Brian Owens and junior Dave Benbasset both shot 82s, tying for 21st. "Even though we won, we wanted to play golf on Saturday and distance ourselves," Penn coach Francis Vaughn said. " We left a lot of shots on the course over the last few holes."
