Frosh head to UA polls today and tomorrow

Members of the Class of 2000 will chose nine classmates to represent them on the Undergraduate Assembly during freshman UA elections today and tomorrow. Eighteen candidates are running and all full-time, first-year students are eligible to vote. Freshmen have a much smaller pool to choose from this year. Last year, 35 freshmen ran for eight seats. The decreased interest level puzzled many Nominations and Elections Committee officials, who attempted to publicize the election throughout campus. Today, students may vote at three polling locations. The NEC will monitor a table between Stouffer Triangle and the Quadrangle, one in Hill College House's dining room and another in Kings Court/English House between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m., according to NEC Chairperson and Engineering junior Benjamin Goldberger. Tomorrow, polls will be open between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. between Stouffer and the Quad and at Hill House dining, Goldberger said. Results of the election will be announced after the Fair Practices Code hearing Thursday. During the Fair Practice Code hearing, any grievances against the candidates will be presented and the NEC will rule on whether the allegations should affect the election results.
