Members of the Class of 2000 finalized the roster of Freshman Class Board officers during run-off elections today. College freshman Michael Flicker was elected president, College freshman Sami Weisberg won the race for vice president and Nursing freshman Amy Koenigsberg will serve as secretary. Irene Bolante and Ryan Robinson will represent the College of Arts and Sciences on the board. "The new officers and representatives seem enthusiastic about planning an exciting freshman year for the class of 2000," said Sophomore Class Board Vice President Sarah Gleit, a student in the College. The sophomore class officers, who ran the election, met Tuesday night in response to complaints that the number of posted campaign fliers was excessive -- particularly in the Quadrangle and Hill College House. Only five of the total pool of candidates followed the postering restrictions, according to Director of Student Life, Activities and Facilities Fran Walker. According to Gordon Rickards, assistant director of operations for Housing and Residence Life, there are only seven bulletin boards in the Quad for campaign postings, and only one poster is allowed on each board. It is illegal to post on boards inside the Quad, as these are reserved for residential advisors. Sophomore class officers voted to recommend that Housing and Residence Life fine students for illegal postering, Walker said. She added that the typical fine for each illegal poster is $1. But the sophomores decided the poster violations did not affect the election results, and so limited the punishment for violations to fines, Walker explained. "They felt they were not clear enough in giving instructions," she explained. "They didn't want to disqualify anyone on the grounds of illegal posters." In elections that did not require run-offs, College freshman David Chu was elected vice president for corporate sponsorship and College freshman Ben Schien was elected treasurer. Wharton freshman Monique Mayer and Nursing freshman Lindsay Hixson will represent their schools on the board. No one from the School of Engineering and Applied Science ran as the school's representative. Those interested can contact the newly elected members of the Freshman Class Board.
