Compiled by DP sports staff If Saturday's 26-11 victory in a scrimmage against Division II Millersville at the Marauders' Biemesderfer Stadium provides any indication of the Quakers' offensive philosophy for the upcoming season, look for Penn to pound the ball on the ground and use a conservative passing attack, at least until senior Steve Teodecki proves himself as a capable signal caller. The unquestionable star of the game on offense was Penn running back Jasen Scott, who rushed for 76 yards on 10 carries. He punctuated his day with a 40-yard touchdown run halfway through the first quarter to open the scoring. As a team, the Quakers rushed for 113 yards, including 36 by senior Aman Abye and 29 by Rick Granata, a transfer from Eastern Michigan getting his first work in a Penn uniform. While Teodecki's stats were hardly eye-popping, the senior's performance was exactly what coach Al Bagnoli was looking for -- consistent. He connected on 11 of his 18 attempts for 110 yards and one touchdown. As expected, Penn's biggest strength was the performance of the defensive line. The Quakers held Millersville to just 11 yards rushing and only two first downs on the ground. · Penn defensive lineman Tim Gage confirmed that he will most likely be sidelined for the next six weeks. The senior co-captain broke the fifth metatarsal on his right foot in practice last week. Gage will be in a cast for four weeks, after which he will attempt to rehab the foot. He hopes to be ready by midseason.
