The Quakers, who actually scored the last three goals of the game, lost to Princeton by the score of 15-6. The Tigers (8-1, 4-0 Ivy League) set the tone for the game early, scoring their first goal just 38 seconds into the game. Within five minutes, Penn (3-4, 2-2) trailed 4-0. Princeton built their lead to 9-2 by halftime. Instead of letting up at that point, the Tigers rallied to score the first five goals of the second half. At one point, Princeton scored seven unanswered goals. Princeton sophomore attacker Cristi Samaras was the game's leading scorer with four goals. Senior attacker Amy Shapiro and sophomore attacker Jamie Schemberg scored two goals each for the Quakers. Shapiro and junior midfielder Curran Kelly had Penn's only two assists. Quakers senior goalie Alexis Seth, who had been one of the bright spots for Penn all season, had an off game. Seth was able to stop only seven of the Tigers' 22 shots on goal. The loss was the second straight for the Quakers, both against formidable Ivy League opponents. They have now dropped four games altogether, all to teams ranked among the top eight in the nation. Penn had suffered its first Ancient Eight loss of the season Saturday afternoon at Dartmouth, succumbing 10-7 to the defending Ivy champs. Penn had won its first two conference matchups, defeating Cornell and Harvard. This marked the second year in a row that the Quakers had lost back-to-back games to Dartmouth and Princeton. Last year, Penn followed a 14-4 defeat at the hands of the Big Green with a 13-6 loss to the Tigers. Altogether, Princeton has outscored the Quakers 44-16 in their last three matchups.
