W. Tennis faces Bears, Elis on weekend roadtrip

Coming off its toughest defeat of the season, the women's tennis team is looking forward to this weekend as an opportunity to move up the Ivy League standings. The Quakers lost last weekend to arguably the best team in the Ivies, Harvard, by only one point, thereby securing their position as one of this year's Ivy contenders. The Quakers are currently 10-3 on the season and 2-2 in the Ivy League. The next week and a half is critical to the rest of the year, with the final three matches all against Ivy League opponents. This weekend presents two Ancient Eight opponents, as the Quakers travel to Yale and Brown. Excluding Harvard, this year's Ivy League competition can be summed up in one word -- parody. All of this year's matches have been relatively close. The Quakers beat Princeton 4-3 and Ivy doormat Dartmouth 7-0, but they lost to Harvard 4-3 and Cornell 5-2. The upcoming competition will most likely present the same type of close matches. "Going on the road is always tough," Penn coach Cissie Leary said. "Yale and Brown are both good teams, but as we have seen all year, on any given day anyone can beat anyone," Leary added.
