Pirates of PennDance, PennDance's spring show, opens tonight at Houston Hall Auditorium. This annual show combines 14 individual and diverse pieces into a complete evening of entertainment for an audience who likes all kinds of dance. Members say they are looking forward to tonight's opening because this year's show involves a wider range of music and choreography. "We have a very big mix of music including Led Zeppelin, Tori Amos, Queen, En Vogue and some blues," College sophomore Alyssa Rheingold said. The styles of each piece vary from modern dancing to ballroom dancing. Although the group is mainly female, some male dancers from other groups take part in a few of the numbers. "This great diversity definitely exemplifies what PennDance is all about, different dancers and different techniques coming together," Rheingold said. Although the group had to make some adjustments when they found out they couldn't perform in Annenberg School Theater as usual, the show promises to be even better than it has been in past years. "This is only my second show but every show the music and choreography, and dancing just keeps on getting better," College freshman Dana Shriberg said. "There is a little bit for everyone in this show." Rheingold added that despite the smaller cast, the show will be one of their best. "We're a little smaller in numbers this semester because many people are abroad but it has worked out really well," Rheingold said. "As a group we've clicked and it shows in our dancing. "We're just out here to have fun and the audience will too," he added. The show runs tonight, Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. in Houston Hall Auditorium. Tickets are available on the Walk and at the door for $5.
