A female student was the victim of an attempted robbery at knifepoint early Saturday evening in the 3700 block of Sansom Street, University Police said last night. A man approached the student from behind at about 7 p.m. Saturday and told her not to turn around because he had a knife, Kimble said. Kimble said the female student had no money on her and fled the scene to 38th and Ludlow streets, where she contacted police. Kimble said he did not have a description of the would-be robber, adding that no arrests have been made. In an unrelated incident, a man tried to rob a student early Saturday morning in the 3400 block of Walnut Street, Kimble said. The male student reported being approached by the man at around 2 a.m. The man had his hands in his pocket and simulated a weapon, Kimble said, adding that nothing was taken from the student. Kimble said University Police apprehended a suspect, who was positively identified, but added that the student refused to press charges. In another unrelated incident, a baby was abducted yesterday afternoon by two men armed with knives in the 200 block of South 45th Street, Kimble said. Two men -- one who had a nose ring and the other who was approximately 16 years old -- took the baby in their vehicle and left him at 43rd and Locust streets at around 4:05 p.m. yesterday, Kimble said. The baby was not injured in the abduction, Kimble said, and was later reunited with his mother. Kimble said that police are looking for an older model red four-door vehicle, which was last seen heading southbound on 44th Street, towards Spruce Street. The vehicle has tinted windows and a sign in the back that reads, "Waiting for Tags." No arrests have been made in the incident and police have no suspects, Kimble said.
