The Phi Gamma Delta fraternity house, located at 3619 Locust Walk, was burglarized Sunday afternoon around 3:30 p.m., University Police said yesterday. University Police Lieutenant Susan Holmes said last night that there was no evidence of forced entry and that she did not know how the burglar got into the house. She said a $900 bicycle which was "secured to a bench" was taken from the lobby of the house. College senior John Rorech, the owner of the bike, said last night that he only left the bike for 30 minutes. "I was just coming in for a second," Rorech said. "They broke the [bench] it was attached to." He added that he did not think before the burglary that someone could have broken the bench. "It was a pretty solid piece of furniture," Rorech said. "It's really unbelievable." He said that this was not the first time someone had stolen his bike. When he was a sophomore, he said, his bike was stolen from the same house. Rorech said he locked the bike to a bike rack in the basement, but someone dismantled the rack and took his bike. Rorech said he knew other fraternity houses had been plagued by burglaries. "Someone's raping us here," he said. "This has been happening around other fraternity houses. It seems so weird that they're attacking a house right in the middle of campus and nothing's being done about it." Rorech said that he thinks the burglars "know what they're doing" and are not simply "bums." "Next time I'm going to have to attach the bike to my leg when I'm sleeping, I guess," he said. In an unrelated incident, Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity house, located at 3615 Locust Walk, was also burglarized over the weekend, University Police said yesterday. Holmes said that again, there was no sign of forced entry and that she did not know how the burglar gained access to the building. Among the items taken were a Sony compact disc stereo and a case of liquor, she said. She added that all of the items were taken from the third floor of the house and that the house did not report anything else missing. Police did not make any arrests in the case and do not have any suspects at this time. In another unrelated incident, the Music Building at 201 South 34th Street was also burglarized over the weekend, University Police said yesterday. Holmes said she did not know how the burglar got into the building, but that there was forced entry into room B-13. She added that a walkman was reported missing from the office. Police did not make any arrests in the case and do not have any suspects at this time.
