Five men carrying mace robbed three University students on the 300 block of South 40th Street at 8:21 p.m. Wednesday, University Police Lieutenant Susan Holmes said yesterday. The five suspects were later arrested by Philadelphia Police and taken to the 18th District Headquarters. Holmes said the mace was not recovered. In an unrelated incident, officers found a loaded .22 caliber rifle inside a car they pulled over in the 4300 block of Walnut Street on Tuesday night, University Police Sergeant Ivan Kimble said. Police pulled over the car because it did not have valid license plates. Kimble said the rifle was turned over to the Ballistics Unit of Philadelphia Police. Officers took the male suspect to the 18th District Philadelphia Police headquarters. Kimble said he was not sure how the officers charged the man but added the rifle was unlicensed. In another unrelated incident, two men robbed a man of $25 on the 4200 block of Walnut Street at 10:09 p.m. Tuesday. Kimble said the victim, a resident of the 4100 block of Walnut Street, saw the suspects tampering with his car and told them to stop. When confronted, one of the suspects said something to the effect of, "You don't want to get shot, do you?" It was then the two suspects demanded the man's money. Kimble said the men wore blue jeans and blue windbreakers on the night of the incident. He added the victim was not injured in the robbery. In another unrelated incident, University Police arrested a man inside the Palladium Restaurant and Bar at 8:40 p.m. on Wednesday for disorderly conduct. Holmes said the man, who had been drinking, refused to leave and began making "terroristic threats" to the Palladium staff. Police escorted him to University Police headquarters and issued him a court date. In another unrelated incident, an unknown person or persons stole a video cassette recorder valued at $600 from a Logan Hall room at 4:17 p.m. Wednesday. Holmes said she did not know whether the room was secured or not.
