I would like to point out an error in The Daily Pennsylvanian's story on anonymous HIV testing (DP 2/14/92). The article states, "While over 130 students came to be tested . . . campus luminaries including President Sheldon Hackney and Nursing School Dean Norma Lang declined invitations to be tested or show their support by attending." Incoming Dean Norma Lang could not have taken part in this event because she was still in Wisconsin, as her appointment here does not begin until March 1. In fact, the dean's office received no invitation for her to participate. Some anonymity! For the record, you should be aware that the School of Nursing is active in AIDS care. Initiatives include a federally-funded course for undergraduates on the care of AIDS patients -- the first such course in the country -- a discussion sponsored by Nursing Student Forum for AIDS Awareness Week on "Caring for HIV+ People: How to Confront Your Fears" and several faculty research projects.
