I was excited to find Bob Kerrey's picture on the front page (DP 2/18/92). However, my excitement turned quickly to frustration as I failed to see the foundation behind the headline "Kerrey fails to impress New Hampshire students." Of the four students mentioned in the article, one was undecided, one was undecided and leaning towards Kerrey and two were Kerrey supporters, who were, in fact, "impressed with Kerrey." Obviously there is no foundation behind the headline's claim. The article's references to Kerrey's speech as "non-descript" and "rattling" are also unfounded. Whose interpretation is this? Comments such as this belong on the editorial page. I have been following Bob Kerrey for three years now, and some of the most appealing aspects of Senator Kerrey are his charisma and his strong appeal among young people. Bob Kerrey is someone students can and should look up to. He truly wants to change this country for the better. I have heard Kerrey speak on several occasions. He holds a deep passion for what he believes. Contrary to the article, Bob Kerrey does have a plan for the future state of education in this country. Bob Kerrey believes in fundamental change. He believes in localizing educational control, emphasizing innovation, fully funding Head Start and using a Kerrey-established Educational Capital Fund partnership to ensure that everyone receives an education. I hope that this clears up any confusion surrounding this article. In the future, please make sure that you provide complete information to your readers. JILL FAMILY College '95
