A cab driver robbed a female passenger who asked to be taken to 30th Street station early Tuesday morning. The incident occurred at 12:30 a.m. in an unspecified location, University Police said. When the woman entered the cab and stated her destination, the cab driver demanded she give him $10 up front. The woman showed the driver a $20 bill, and told him she would pay when they arrived at the train station. The driver drove for one or one and a half blocks, and then stopped the vehicle suddenly. He immediately jumped out of the cab and grabbed his passenger by the waist, dragging her from the rear of the car. The woman fell during the ensuing struggle, and the driver grabbed the $20 bill from her hand. He then told the woman, "If you tell anyone about this, I'll blow your fucking head off." The man jumped back into the cab and sped off, police said. The woman, meanwhile, spotted a marked 16th District patrol car and flagged it down to tell police officers what had happened. Soon afterward, the cab was stopped at 36th and Chestnut streets. The driver was taken into custody and positively identified by the passenger. He was then taken to Philadelphia Police Department's West Detectives. Neither the passenger nor the driver was affiliated with the University, police said. In an unrelated incident, a female University senior was assaulted on the 4000 block of Delancey Street at 5:40 p.m. Monday evening. The woman was walking to her residence when two males approached her and pushed her up against a car. The men made a threatening remark and fled the scene. The woman described only one of the males, saying he appeared to be 5'8", 15 years of age and of thin build, and was wearing a blue hat, blue jacket and blue jeans. In another unrelated incident, University Police stopped a suspicious looking man at 3:02 p.m. Monday on the 1920 Commons Drive where he appeared to be inspecting cars. The police found assorted tools and a crack pipe in the man's possession. The crack pipe was confiscated and the man was released. Police also stopped another man carrying a large knife at 40th and Walnut streets at 4:33 p.m. on Monday. The knife was confiscated and the man was released.
