The highly renowned Federal Donuts will open a branch on campus in early 2014.

The new location of Federal Donuts, which is known for its homemade donuts, fried chicken and coffee, will be at 3428 Sansom St., occupying the empty spot next to Doc Magrogan’s Oyster House. The store already has branches in South Philadelphia and Center City, and will also be opening a new location in North Philadelphia.

“We look forward to meeting the students, faculty and staff of Penn and serving the entire University City community,” Federal Donuts co-owner Steven Cook said in a statement.

“We are excited to welcome the homegrown Philadelphia venture, Federal Donuts, to our neighborhood as they will provide another enticing venue on Sansom Row. The innovative menu is quite unique from current offerings around Penn,” said Vice President of Penn Facilities and Real Estate Services Anne Papageorge in a statement. “This super-popular concept should translate well to our campus.”
