Crime Log | Sept. 16 — Sept. 20

Assault:

Sept. 20 – A 34-year-old male officer was assaulted when responding to a radio call by a 23-year-old male suspect of the 100 block of S. 40th Street at Smokey Joe’s at 210 S. 40th Street at around 1:45 a.m.

Sept. 20 – A 23-year-old male of the 100 block of S. 40th Street was arrested for assaulting a 21-year-old male student at Smokey Joe’s at 210 S. 40th Street at around 1:45 a.m

Sept. 18 – A 25-year-old male student reported that he was assaulted by four or five suspects outside of Wawa at 3604 Chestnut Street at around 2:20 p.m.

Sept. 17 – A 36-year-old unaffiliated male of the 1100 block of S. 51st Street was arrested for striking a 24-year-old unaffiliated female in the mouth with an unknown object at the intersection of 37th and Spruce Streets at around 4:30 p.m.

Sex Offense:

Sept. 20 – An unidentified female reported that a male grabbed her buttocks at the 200 block of 40th Street. The male was arrested.

Robbery:

Sept. 18 – A 23-year-old unaffiliated female reported an unknown person pushed her to the ground and took her purse at the 3400 block of Market Street at around 11:30 p.m.

Sept. 16 – A 38-year-old female reported two males approached her, one kicked her and the other tried to grab her purse at the 4100 block of Spruce Street at around 9 p.m. They ran off without her purse.

Theft:

Sept. 19 – An unaffiliated person reported that another unknown person took an iPad from the front seat of the vehicle after the window was left open on the 200 block of S. 42nd Street at around 1 p.m.

Sept. 19 – Two unaffiliated males, one of the 5900 block of W. Thompson Street and the other of the 2300 block of N. Beechwood Street, were arrested by Penn Police for stealing items from CVS on 3925 Walnut Street at around 2:40 p.m.

Sept. 19 – A 19-year-old male student reported that an unknown person took his laptop from under his desk in College Hall at around 5 p.m.

Sept. 19 – An unaffiliated female reported that an unknown person took her unattended purse in the Science Center on 3701 Market Street at around 11:45 p.m.

Sept. 18 – A 43-year-old unaffiliated person reported that two metal benches were taken by an unknown person at Cavanaugh’s Restaurant at 119 S. 39th Street at around 11:30 a.m.

Sept. 18 – A 54-year-old unaffiliated male of the 300 block of Preston Street was arrested by Penn Police for removing items owned by the University from Stiteler Hall at around 2:20 a.m.

Sept. 17 – A 54-year-old affiliated woman reported that money was taken from her wallet which was left in an unsecured office space at 3600 Market Street at around 11 a.m.

Sept. 17 – An unaffiliated juvenile was arrested after being observed taking a bike from a bike rack at the International House at 3701 Chestnut Street at around 4:30 p.m.

Sept. 16 – A 21-year-old female student reported her cable-locked bike was missing from the rack at Sansom East College House at around 5:10 p.m.
