Taglio, located at 3716 Spruce St., has shut its doors, but its replacement remains in the family.
The restaurant, which opened in September 2009, shut down on March 4.
Though the Italian eatery has left campus, the Avanti Food Corporation — the restaurant group behind Gia Pronto and Taglio — will replace the space with TBowl.
Avanti, founded by 1996 College and 2002 Masters in Business Administration graduate Marco Lentini, will bring rice bowls and organic and bubble teas to campus. Lentini could not be reached for comment by press time.
College freshman Serena Shi said that she is rather unaffected by Taglio’s absence. “It was extremely pricey,” she said, adding “I won’t miss it at all.”
The restaurant “should have had more business considering their prime location” near the Quadrangle, Wharton freshman Spencer Penn said.
College freshman Lyndsey Wheeler wrote in an e-mail that Taglio “had the worst hours.”
“It was … overshadowed by the presence of Gia, Saladworks, and Beijing,” she added.
