Two people attempted to rob a man at gunpoint on the 4100 block of Walnut Street on Aug. 26 at about 7:15 p.m., according Penn and Philadelphia police.

Penn Division of Public Safety spokeswoman Stef Cella said the 44-year-old complainant, a man unaffiliated with the University, was approached by the two suspects in a building lobby.

The suspects displayed a handgun and demanded money but fled the scene in an unknown direction when they heard people coming.

The man identified the two suspects as black males in their 20s, said Philadelphia Police Sgt. Charles Layton.

No arrests have been made.

In a separate incident, an additional robbery was reported on the 4200 block of Spruce Street on Sept. 1 at about 7:10 p.m.

According to Layton, the victim was grabbed by the throat and was robbed of $40.

No weapon was used.

The robber was described as a black male with a Nigerian accent, Layton said. The robber has not yet been apprehended.
