Drexel University has been selected to host the next Democratic primary debate Oct. 30.
The nationally televised event, fourth in a series of six debates sponsored by the Democratic National Committee, is expected to include all eight presidential candidates from the party, including frontrunners Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and John Edwards.
Drexel President Constantine Papadakis made the official announcement last Friday in a statement, saying that the debate, which is co-sponsored by MSNBC, "is an excellent expression of Drexel's mission of education, public service and civic engagement."
Philadelphia's last presidential debate happened in 1976, when President Gerald Ford debated Democratic nominee Jimmy Carter in the Walnut Street Theater.
