On a day dominated by defense on both sides, senior running back Joe Sandberg broke free for an 18-yard score and caught a 10-yard touchdown pass to lead the Quakers to a 16-0 victory over Columbia.
Receiver Matt Carre was in sync with sophomore quarterback Robert Irvin on Saturday. So was Braden Lepisto. And Chris Mizell. One week after throwing for under 100 yards and two interceptions, Irvin was hitting all of his targets on Saturday. Three Penn receivers set career highs in the win over Dartmouth.
Junior Jason Pinsky won the A-Flight at the Farnsworth/Princeton Invitational tennis tournament yesterday in Princeton, N.J., according to Penn head coach Mark Riley. Freshman Adam Schwartz lost in the consolation match. Other top Quakers, including senior Mikhail Bekker, took the weekend off to allow the freshmen on the team to get some playing time.
If Ivy League teams are going to beat Penn this year, they'll have to do it through the air.
