NEW HAVEN, Conn. - In a game that came down to field goals, Penn's struggles continued when it mattered most. In overtime, Yale kicker Alan Kimball connected for the game-winning field goal from 35 yards out after Penn kicker Derek Zoch banged his 37-yard attempt off the right goal post during Penn's overtime drive.


Injury may keep key WR on bench at Bucknell

The Ivy League-leading wide receiver from Week 1 may not be back in Penn's lineup for Saturday's game at Bucknell as originally expected. Penn wideout Dan Coleman sat out the Dartmouth game with a moderate ankle sprain, but afterward, head coach Al Bagnoli said he believed the junior would be ready to play the following week.

If you are looking for a poll concerning football, you might go to ESPN, USA Today or The Associated Press. But here's one name you probably wouldn't think of: Wharton. But Penn's business school has suddenly gotten into the business of football rankings, publishing a study over the summer.

City Council passed this summer a bill that bans smoking in all public places in the city - most notably in restaurants and bars. Former Councilman Michael Nutter, who resigned his seat to join the 2007 mayoral race, was the main sponsor of the ban, a project he has been pushing for years.


Ivy teams facing problems from within

Three weeks ago, a media poll anointed Harvard the favorite for the upcoming Ivy League football season, but recent personnel losses could vault Penn right back to the top. In June, the Crimson lost captain Matthew Thomas, an all-league linebacker the previous season, after he was suspended for all of 2006.

Most students who take summer classes just go through the same routine as during the other semesters. But one group of students is able to earn summer credits without ever stepping foot on Locust Walk. Instead those students are enjoying unique cultures in far off cities such as Buenos Aires, London, Florence, and Seoul.


David Whitehurst, a College junior on the Penn basketball and track teams has been dismissed from the University for academic reasons, according a report last week by The Times of Trenton. The disclosure puts to rest weeks of speculation and rumors about Whitehurst's status and supports several unconfirmed reports The Summer Pennsylvanian and other media outlets had received.
