Penn students might know David Pottruck for the fitness center that bears his name, but they probably don't know much else about the member of the College Class of 1970. Pottruck was a two-sport athlete for the Quakers in football and wrestling. He was the CEO and president of discount brokerage Charles Schwab, a trustee of the University and has also been involved in a startup airline company and a sports retail network.

Wei-Hwa Huang has been haunted by his lack of nerves before. When the pressure is on, the 33-year-old Mountain View, Calif., native just hasn't been able to perform. No, Huang isn't an athlete, trial lawyer or surgeon. And unless there's something he's not telling us, he's never defused a bomb.

The wait is finally over. Since Zeke Jones stepped down as the head coach of the Penn wrestling team on Sept. 27 in order to take the same position with USA Wrestling, the Penn reins have been up for grabs. But yesterday, Rob Eiter - an assistant under Jones for two years and the interim coach after his departure - was named the permanent head coach.

Oh, those second-half woes. They've plagued the men's soccer team as of late. Consequently, coach Rudy Fuller's squad - which went undefeated through the first 10 games of the season - is just 2-2 over its last four matches. (The losses came against Lehigh and Columbia while the wins were over Dartmouth and Yale.

NEW HAVEN, Conn., Oct. 25 - For the first 16 minutes of Saturday's 9-7 win over Yale, the Quakers' offense was stagnant. Senior quarterback Robert Irvin showed an ability to roll right and hit tight end Josh Koontz on the run, but not much else, so coach Al Bagnoli decided to call on backup Kyle Olson early in the second quarter.

The losing streak, it seemed, would never end. But this weekend, after Columbia's 21-13 win over Dartmouth, the stench of the 13-game skid was washed away in orange Gatorade. The bath that Lions coach Norries Wilson received courtesy of safety Andy Shalbrack must have felt good - it signaled the end of the second-longest active skid in the Football Championship Subdivision.

Matthew Krentz's experiences growing up in St. Louis and playing basketball at junior college led him to craft a fictional account of his experiences. He wrote, directed and starred in Streetballers - the Philadelphia Daily News lauded his "chutzpah" - but he still couldn't get Hollywood to take note of the relatively low-budget Irish Urban drama.

The average College of General Studies class at Penn attracts a mixed bag of students. The College kid who's too lazy to take the 10 a.m. version. The stay-at-home mom who's finally getting her degree. And the senior citizen who has nothing better to do on a Tuesday evening.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - It wasn't until the postgame press conference after Saturday's 9-7 win at Yale that Al Bagnoli finally showed the effects of being the longest-tenured coach in Quakers history. "I think I'm gonna go on the bus and fall asleep," he said, chuckling.

Penn men's soccer senior Omid Shokoufandeh had been here before. The Quakers' strong first-half play had disappeared, and with it, their one-goal lead. They seemed destined for a tie, or worse, another Ivy loss. That's when, with just under two minutes left on a rainy, windy Saturday night in New Haven, Conn.

Sprint Football can't upend Navy The sprint football team scored a touchdown as time expired in the first half to take a 7-6 lead, but from there it was all downhill against Navy. The defending champion Midshipmen for 20 third-quarter points en route to a 26-7 victory in Annapolis, Md.

Senior forward Molly Weir did her best to break a scoreless deadlock for the women's soccer team. Playing against Yale, Weir rattled a shot off the crossbar in the 20th minute. Then in overtime, her shot from the right side forced the Bulldogs keeper to make a sliding save.

For now, the Penn men's golf team is done until spring. But it took a fight through wind, rain and injury to close out the fall season. With a score of 929 - 77 over par - the Quakers finished sixth out of 15 teams at the Columbia Invitational in Galloway, N.

When Julia Swanson single-handedly stuffed Dartmouth's Kelsey Johnson, she thought she had closed out Penn's sweep of the Big Green. Shock swept her smile away when the referee called her for a penalty. Two plays later, though, Swanson tipped the ball just in front of the outstretched arms of Big Green libero Amber Bryant for the win, bringing Dartmouth coach Ann Marie Larese to her knees in frustration.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Last year, it took three overtimes to decide the annual cardiac stress test that some refer to as a Penn-Yale football game. This time around, three field goals did the trick. Behind the strength of Andrew Samson's right leg and another gutsy defensive showing, the Quakers came from behind to nip the Bulldogs, 9-7, on Saturday afternoon at the Yale Bowl, improving to 3-0 in Ivy play for the first time since 2005.

The first 35 minutes of the Penn field hockey team's match with Yale belonged to Ashley McCauley. The Bulldogs senior forward netted two early goals, but as the game progressed, Penn defender Sarah Warner adjusted. "She got by me a couple times in the first half," Warner said.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - After devoting substantial practice time to unleashing his throws quickly, Yale quarterback Brook Hart felt he was prepared to face the Penn defense. He was wrong. The 6-foot-5 sophomore, filling in for injured starter Ryan Fodor, was thrown to the wolves in the Quakers' 9-7 win on Saturday.
