Whether it’s electronic dance music – EDM, for short – to get the blood flowing or a slow song to mourn a tough loss, music serves a multitude of purposes for athletes at Penn. 

With the culmination of the NFL season, The Daily Pennsylvanian recently caught up with Carolina Panthers offensive guard and Penn alumnus Greg Van Roten about his football career since leaving Penn.

The energy the Penn band brings has become a staple in creating the atmosphere that makes the Palestra so special.

The freshman guard has been named Ivy League Rookie of the Week four times this season, all coming in the past six weeks. 

On Friday and Saturday, the Quakers will host Columbia and Cornell, respectively, at the Palestra. The Red and Blue are currently in fifth place in the Ivy League, tied with Brown.

The stakes have never been higher this winter for Penn track, swimming, and gymnastics.

After losing two consecutive Ivy League games to conclude the 2018 season, the Quakers now have their eyes set on their next matchup — a nonconference matchup against Delaware. 

A pair of juniors, Tim Sanford and Kyle Gallagher, are nothing short of ecstatic about their decisions to come join the Quakers from Denver and Hofstra, respectively.

On Saturday at the Palestra, the Quakers lost to No. 19 Princeton, 28-6, but followed that up with a 39-0 victory against California Baptist on Sunday afternoon.

Coming off a 5-2 record in Ivy League play and placing second in the conference, Penn looked to clinch the title this weekend. The squad took home a third place finish for the best finish in Penn squash history. 

This weekend, the men's and women’s teams traveled to New Jersey for the Princeton Invitational, and the Quakers proved their skill once again.

Penn men's basketball isn't a lost cause yet, but the Quakers need to turn the ship around and quick.

Despite a close and competitive effort from Penn, Maryland remained undefeated, beating Penn in overtime, 13-12.

One day after narrowly topping Dartmouth 82-79 in overtime, Penn lost to Harvard in another overtime game by a 75-68 score.

Penn men's basketball is looking for its first Ivy weekend sweep of the season, and the women are looking to stay undefeated.  

Friday's 82-79 overtime win against Dartmouth wasn't an easy one for the Quakers, but wins don't need to be pretty as long as they get the job done.
